Brief introduction
Walking beam reheating furnace is a kind of continuous heating furnace through the upward, forward, downward and backward action of furnace bottom or water cooling metal beam to move the billet forward step by step. The furnace has a fixed furnace bottom and a walking furnace bottom, or a fixed beam and a walking beam. The former is called walking bottom furnace, the latter is called walking beam furnace. The walking beam of the reheating furnace for steel rolling is usually composed of water cooling tubes. The walking beam furnace can heat the billet on both up and down sides.

Compared with the pusher-type reheating furnace, walking beam furnace has the following advantages: 1. Flexible transportation of the materials, and can discharge all the furnace charges out of the furnace when necessary; 2. The billet is spread out at intervals on the bottom of the furnace or on the beam, which can be heated quickly and evenly; 3. The failure of steel arch and sticking steel in pusher furnace is completely eliminated, so that the length of the furnace is not limited by these factors.

Working principle
The walking beam reheating furnace drives the billet forward by the upward, downward, forward and backward of the bottom of the furnace or the walking beam. The working principle is as follows: At the starting position, the movable furnace bottom is in the lowest position under the billet, and the two ends of the billet are placed on the fixed hearth in the furnace, and then the billet is lifted up at the movable hearth, and then the billet is placed on the fixed hearth under the movable hearth, and finally the movable hearth returns to the original position. It can be seen from the above that the motion trajectory of the movable hearth is a rectangle, and the time it takes to move one cycle is called "cycle". The distance at which it moves the billet at one time is called the "stroke". The characteristics of walking furnace heating are that the walking furnace can be heated separately between billets, so that the heating speed is fast and the internal and external temperature is uniform.

Interlock conditions
(1) When the steel discharging machine moves forward, upward and backward, the discharging furnace door must be opened, the walking beam mechanism cannot move, and the discharging roller table must stop.
(2) When the walking beam mechanism is moving, the discharging and charging furnace door must be closed.
(3) When the steel pusher pushes the steel, the charging door must be opened, and the walking beam must stop moving in the falling position.

Furnace structure
(1) Furnace width. It is determined by the length of the billet and the number of charging rows.
(2) Furnace length. Effective bottom length refers to the length of steel material effectively heated in the furnace, which is determined by the output of the furnace.
(3) Furnace height and furnace internal profile. They directly affect the heating capacity and heat utilization of the furnace and are determined based on the experience of similar furnaces.
